Discounted price
Apply the first discount, then any second discount to the reduced price.
How this works
Final price = original price × (1−d1/100) × (1−d2/100), where d1 and d2 are the first and optional second discount percentages. Savings = original price − final price. The second discount applies to the already-reduced price, not the original amount.
Example
The illustration may use different inputs from the reproducible default inputs listed below.
With the default 20% discount and no second discount, $100 × 0.80 × 1 = $80 before tax, saving $20. With all reset-default inputs, discounted price before tax: $80.
- Original price ($)
- 100
- Discount (%)
- 20
- Additional sequential discount (%)
- 0
- Discounted price before tax
- $80
Scope and assumptions
Returns a price before tax. It does not model fixed-dollar coupons, minimum-spend conditions, exclusions or retailer rounding rules. Sequential percentages are multiplied, not added; two discounts of the same percentage do not simply double that percentage.
